I’ve recently started reading the book “Animal Speak” by Ted Andrews. It has been an interesting read with a lot of good information. It is also where I get some of the animal symbolism information that I have written about.

I wanted to learn more about the shamanic practice of animal and especially bird medicine. So, I tried Google. Did you know that typing “bird medicine” into the search engine provides a list of veterinary websites? It also shows places selling bird antibiotics and vitamins. Not exactly what I was looking for. I tried “shamanic bird medicine”. Same thing. So, I tried “shamanic animal medicine”. A little better. I still got a lot of veterinary results. But I also got some actual shamanic sites.

I did find one book on Amazon which appears to be all about bird medicine. I’ve got it saved in my wish list, so maybe I’ll get it and read it to learn more.

Why am I so interested in bird medicine? Since moving to Wisconsin, I have had many encounters with various birds, including eagles, hawks, and cranes. Some were what I would call normal, natural encounters. But others felt more spiritual in nature. I have been feeling called to work with these birds. And study the avians, their spiritual meanings, and significance in my life. If anyone has any insights or recommendations, I would love to hear from you.
